The dance studio has a welcoming atmosphere and is a great place to learn your craft. Yet some people who are considering learning dance are intimidated by the thought of walking through the doors of a dance studio. If you are nervous about learning to dance, hopefully this article will put you at ease and fill you with the confidence you need to book your first lesson.
A common misconception is that a person feels as though they will be the only ones in the dance studio who cannot dance. This is simply not the case. A professional teacher will make sure that the group they are teaching is at the same level of ability. You can make sure you do not find yourself in a class you find uncomfortable by booking the relevant class suitable to your ability. If you are unsure which class this would be, phone up the dance studio and talk to an instructor, they will be happy to give you their advice.
The first time you arrive at the dance studio, try to get there early. This will give you time to introduce yourself to the other members of the class and also find yourself a good position in the room. Try and stand in the middle of the studio if you can. By doing this you will be able to follow people on either side of you if you do not understand what the teacher has said.
Expect your first time in the dance studio to be fun. There is no pressure. Remember that you are there to enjoy yourself, keep fit and learn something. All of these pursuits are worthwhile and should be a pleasure. If you find yourself getting flustered from the lesson, try to relax and remember why you are there.
